Hi, this video shows a home service on a Volkswagen Golf Mk5 1.6 FSI. The video includes an oil change, oil filter, pollen (cabin) filter, spark plugs, other checks, topping up fluids and resetting the service light.
Many thanks, Vince.
I have same engine, it now has 208.000km and with good maintainance and regular engine oil change it runs totally smooth and ) oil burn!. Thanks for the video
Hi. Cheers. Had a major service. Fuel filter fitted too. Mot etc.. I still have this awful knock rattle noise underneath somewhere. When driving on uneven roads, bumps. I've checked everywhere as much as I can . Took all wheels off looked at suspension. Don't know what it is. It sounds something very loose. But can't see any swaybar link play. Etc. The suspension is shit btw. Any clues!!???? Thanks. Oh steering is fine
Thanks a lot for the guideline, I did the service today and all was exactly as you described so thank you so very much for your feed, keep up the great job 👌
Brother can you help me? Ive got an mk5 1.6 fsi and i changed yesterday the oils just like you did. Today i went for a calm ride and when i came back i saw oil on the floor. I am terrified bro. Help plz
This video's absolutely amazing, I've got VW Mk 5 petrol and I did service by looking at this video thank you very much I have saved £ 210. ( Kwik Fit price)
Nice job done. I have one question. Which engine oil did you used? I saw it is a castrol edge but cant see the label. And one more, whisch spark plugs did you put? Thank you.
You see that button in the oil filter housing. By this i dont mean the oil filter cap but whatever it screws into. You need to depress that button a few times to expel the old oil captured in this oil filter housing whilst the oil is draining. After depressing this, the old oil captured, trickles into the sump to be drained through the sump plug hole in the usual way. There won't be much old oil captured in the oil filter housing but its best to avoid contamination of new oil as much as possible. Hope this helps. My favourite part of your video was the spark plugs replacement and i am confident in tackling this video now. I have the exact same spec car. Thanks for showing this.
Dude it was only just before Christmas my Mrs brother asked me about servicing his car in the new year. I have decent knowledge but they weird coincidence that you uploaded this had helped me decently to make sure it went nice and smoothly. Love your videos. Gives me a bit of confidence to try fixing things myself. Thank you. Hope 2020 is a great year for you
you know the MOT is the minimum safety standard a vehicle must meet, the advice given on a service although may not be an MOT fail is still very important and essential to both stay safe and prolong the life of your car, not to mention repairing things at first notice could save a lot of money in the long run as ignoring small issues an cause consequential damage down the line so anyone who just relies on an MOT for the inspection thinking theyre saving money and will be ok are most definatley not
Remove dipstick when adding oil! Thats why it was so slow, there was no place for air to escape except to the filler cap hole. Else it would go through dipstick hole and it would be much easier
I've watched quite a few of your videos and find them very informative. I was wondering if you have a video or maybe a series that focuses on using a multimeter to check capacitors, resistors, coils and other common checks you have used using a multimeter dnd how to check if they are bad or not. Also options on a multimeter to use for these checks?
Tanks mate. For the upload …

Do you not have to pump the radiator hose to ensure no air is in the system when topping up the coolant?
Great movie, shows every detail. Thank you
That first thing you pulled out of the engine, what is it called?
Do you do anything else with this car? As I have the same
The connector which you need to lever with a screwdriver, mine just won’t budge and it’s super frustrating
