20 thoughts on “odd oil pressure issue

  1. its not a oil pump…..the oil sending unit has to build pressure to work ur pump…….my cars oil light turns off at 55 to 60 mph……but wen i slow down to 45 50 it comes back on……because the oil sending unit is almost gone

  2. There are 2 oil pressure sensors
First ~0,3bar (the pressure which must have at low rpm). if it is lower then in contol panel blinks oil bulb.
Second ~1,2bar ( at higher speeds approx. 1800rpm). if it is lower then in control panel starts blinking and that noise. (Sorry for my English)

Reasons – one sensor is bad or engine/oil pump worn out

  3. @alejo sauc If you are in the states, GermanAutoParts has what you want for around $100. If you are comphy working on cars then this is an easy job. Besides, I am sure google will hold your hand on a project like this.

  4. The strong clicking sound is something you don't want to hear. That means there is no oil or not enough getting to the top of the engine which leads to the sound you hear (valve tap). I would drop the oil pan and do a sludge flush, change the oil pump and pick up tube. Cross your fingers that there isn't any engine damage.

  5. Yes, we replaced the oil pressure sensor and the problem persisted but at different rpm points. Also the oil light almost to come on during engine torque so it was found that the connector was faulty.

Keep in mind the 1.8t has issues with sludge build-up so we first thought that. But after dropping the oil pan and finding it surprisingly clean we knew that wasnt an issue.
